Ann Griffin- Aaronlahti Nurse Recruiter Tells You How:
Professional Connections is a nurse recruitment agency we place nurses in "perm" posts in The UK, Australia, Ireland and The Middle East. Ann Griffin- Aaronlahti is a senior nurse recruiter, let me give you you some basis tips how to write a perfect nursing resume/ cv.
We review thousands of cv every month so we know when we see a good one. It surprises us on a daily basis how poorly candidates present themselves in their cv/ resume.
a) For nurses a profile on the first page is not necessary unless you are at a very senior level.
b) Make sure the employment and education dates match! We need month/ year if you write for example 2012 - 2013 that could be one year or two years' work experience better to write e.g March 2013- February 2014. If there is a gap explain the gap- seeking employment, travelling in Asia, caring for a sick relative etc .
c) Write if you are working full time or part time. Many registration / licensing authorities around the world want that you are working at least 120 hours per month so we always need to see this information. If you have more than one job this will show which is your main employment.
d) If you are applying for a job you would love to know , the size of the hospital, is it an academic teaching hospital, tertiary center, what size is the ward, what type of cases there are, nurse patient ratios am I not right!? That is what the hiring nurse manager is looking for about your recent experience too. So describe the hospital and the ward you are assigned. Then write you role and responsibilities in your own words do not copy and paste a Job Description recruiters can spot in a second if you do this!
