Anaesthetic nursing jobs
Our client hospital NHS Foundation Trust is based about 12 miles from the centre of London with good transport links into the capital and is based in a beautiful and historic part of the country. It lies very close to Richmond Park and is close to Hampton Court Palace and Kempton Park. The hospital supports around 350,000 people in the surrounding area from the boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Roehampton, Putney, Merton and East Elmbridge.
They have approximately 520 beds. The hospital is located on a single site in Kingston upon Thames, but run a number of outpatient clinics in sites across our catchment area including Raynes Park Health Centre, Surbiton Centre for Health, Queen Mary's Roehampton and Teddington Memorial Hospital. They provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment services and have a national reputation for innovative developments in healthcare, particularly in 'patient-focused' care, day surgery and maternity services.
Anaesthetics, including Critical Care and Pain, is one of the largest departments in the Trust comprising 23 consultants, six specialty doctors and 18 trainees in training posts from the St Georges School of Anaesthesia. We are supported by one nurse specialist in patient pain management.
The team provides elective and emergency anaesthetic services to all departments in the Trust, including two theatre suites (seven main theatres and four day surgery theatres), the Critical Care Unit, the Obstetric department, Acute and Chronic pain management, the Assisted Conception Unit, the Outpatient Dental Suite (Princess Alexander Suite), and at the Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Epsom Hospital.
In addition, they provide specialist evaluation clinics to the Pre-assessment Service for high risk surgical patients, assessing fitness for surgery. This may include CardioPulmonary Exercise (CPeX) testing. We also provide Obstetric Anaesthetic clinics twice per month to Maternity. We have recently acquired a Simulation Suite and many of our consultants, and trainees, are actively involved in Simulation training and teaching students and trainee doctors.
